A new holiday?

This is absoultely ridiculous.
WASHINGTON - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, a possible White House candidate in 2008, joined 2004 nominee John Kerry and other Democrats Thursday in urging that Election Day be made a federal holiday to encourage voting.

She also pushed for legislation that would allow all ex-felons to vote.
Vote for the democrats! They will get you out of your back breaking job by creating useless holidays! Wouldn't a national holiday hurt them more? This past election was supposed to be the voice of the young voters who then didn't come out to vote. Young voters don't have jobs, so making it a national holiday wouldn't do anything for them. The only folks it would coerce to come out and vote are those who don't vote because they are hard at work on election day, and the majority of them will vote republican.

And allowing ex-felons to vote? I don't want murderers and rapists having a say in what direction our government goes.
Boxer said the bill "is meant to ensure the election debacle of 2000, and the serious election irregularities of 2004, never ever happen again."
Irregularities of 2004? 2004 went down rather smoothly and Bush won by a decent amount. I doubt any of the irregularities are worse than in previous elections. What she actually means is "...to ensure republicans never win the elections ever again."

I wonder if Hallmark would start making "happy election day!" cards?
